Oilseed Expanders

Our Anderson oilseed expanders were first used in the early 1960’s to stabilize rice bran and condition cottonseed meats.  Since then, many innovations have been incorporated into our oilseed expanders  for improving solvent extraction performance.  Today’s oilseed expanders process low and high oil bearing seeds, they have the ability to extract oil, and have several options for influencing the collet size and porosity to suit extractor requirements.

Operational Savings

One important benefit that our oilseed expanders provide the oilseed processor is day-to-day operational savings.  Operational savings are key to maintaining profitability.

To serve the needs of processors, we continuously work on our oilseed expander line.  We have developed a number of expander features and options designed to help lower overall plant energy consumption and reduce loading on the extractor.  This helps extraction processors lower their operational costs, and increase their capacity.  Since processing plants vary greatly in preparation machinery and in types of extractors used, we have developed a range of expanders to fit your specific requirements.

Durability

Durability of our machinery also helps reduce maintenance costs. Our oilseed expanders are designed based on years of oilseed operating experience.  That means long runs between downtimes.  Our design considers what is required for 24 hour per day; seven days per week, uninterrupted run times.  Our Solvex 1212 Expander has run over 800,000 metric tons of oilseeds without maintenance downtime.

Flexibility

Flexibility impacts profitably.  If processors can quickly change from one oilseed type to another, they can take advantage of market shifts.  This flexibility may be driven by market availability or market prices.  We developed our machinery with the flexibility to run many oilseeds in a very efficient manner.

Anderson oilseed expanders are designed so they can be quickly converted to run oilseeds of low oil content, such as soybeans, and then alternatively run oilseeds of high oil content, such as safflower seeds.  Our Solvex (solid-wall) Expanders can be quickly converted to our Hivex (slotted-wall) Expanders for oilseeds of high oil content.  There is no requirement to change the foundation, or the feed or discharge conveyor configurations when implementing these conversions.  Both the Solvex and the Hivex Expanders can be fitted with either a multi-holed die-plate or a hydraulic cone choke.
